Dorothy followed in the footsteps of her father and became Mayor (-ess, in her case) of Enniskillen and, according to an undated newspaper clipping in a scrapbook kept by Margretta Orr, had "the distinction of being the only unmarried woman in Ulster as yet to hold such a position".
